Vice President and Secretary of the University
As Vice President, Secretary of the University, and Chief of Staff in the President’s Office, Katie Callow-Wright leads projects and initiatives at the direction of the President, working in close collaboration with other senior leaders of the University, and the Board of Trustees.
In her duties as Secretary of the University, Callow-Wright is the senior officer with direct responsibility for oversight and facilitation of the many governance practices at the University. She manages all activities related to the Board of Trustees, providing direct support and counsel to the President and the Trustees. In addition, she provides guidance to and supports the work of other boards, such as the Medical Center Board of Trustees and the Board of the Marine Biological Laboratory. Other key components of Callow-Wright’s role include the strategic coordination of governing activities involving the National Laboratories and the boards of other affiliates, and oversight of the Office of University Events and Ceremonies.
As Chief of Staff, Callow-Wright oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of the President, ensuring the necessary staffing, resources, and internal project management to achieve the objectives of the office. She has broad responsibility in areas such as policy development and executive communications.
Callow-Wright was appointed to her current role in July, 2017. Since arriving at the University in July 2000, she has served in several senior roles, including Assistant Vice President for Campus Life and Assistant Dean of the College from 2012-2014, Chief of Staff in the Office of the President from 2014-2015, and Vice President and Chief of Staff from 2015-2017.
Callow-Wright has more than twenty years of experience in higher education, with previous appointments in student life at Baldwin Wallace College and Colorado College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from DePauw University and a master’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University.
