Michele Rasmussen
Stanford University announced that Michele Rasmussen has been named as their next vice provost for student affairs. Michele will assume this role in September after having served as the dean of students in the University for the UChicago community since 2013. She brings to her new opportunity a wealth of expertise from which Stanford is fortunate to benefit.
Throughout her tenure at the University, Michele has led key aspects of student life across campus. Her contributions to many areas—including housing and residence life, wellness and mental health programing, and numerous free expression-related initiatives—have been influential in shaping the campus environment for the better. She has collaborated with campus leaders, the area deans of students, and UChicagoGRAD to advance a wide variety of initiatives aimed at providing for the intellectual, professional, and personal flourishing of students.
Michele has administered multiple student-focused departments and service functions in her role as dean of students in the University and leader of Campus and Student Life, including UChicago Student Wellness, the Center for Leadership and Involvement, the Center for Identity + Inclusion, UChicago HELP, Spiritual Life, Athletics and Recreation, the Office of International Affairs, Housing and Residence Life, UChicago Dining, and Student Disability Services. In addition, during the past academic year, Michele provided valuable interim oversight to facilities, capital planning, space planning projects, and campus master planning, along with a number of other major programmatic efforts and strategic priorities. Her engaged leadership during a period of transition has been greatly appreciated.
Michele’s term as dean of students in the University will conclude in August. As we prepare to bid her farewell, please join me in extending gratitude to her for her years of dedicated service and wish her all the best in her new role.
Sincerely,
Paul
