MaryFrances McCourt joined as Chief Financial Officer for the University of Chicago in April 2022. In this role, McCourt is responsible for overseeing the University’s central financial operations, working with the President, Provost, Board of Trustees, Deans, and Officers to ensure that our fiscal strategy best supports the academic, research, and clinical missions and priorities of the University. In addition to overseeing all aspects of Financial Services, Controllership, and Treasury, she also leads Compliance and Internal Audit, Information Technology Services, Human Resources, Risk Management, and Shared Services.
Prior to joining UChicago, McCourt served as Senior Vice President for Finance and Treasurer at the University of Pennsylvania. During this time, McCourt led Penn’s Treasury and Comptroller functions, Financial Planning & Analysis, Student Registration and Financial Services, Research Administration, Risk Management, Global Support Services, Financial Systems & Training, and Gift Administration. She also collaborated closely with Penn Medicine’s leadership on its growth and financial planning. Before joining Penn in 2016, McCourt served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Indiana University, where she was the top fiscal officer overseeing budgetary and financial matters across seven campuses. McCourt also served in financial management roles for Agilysys, Inc., an enterprise technology solutions company.
McCourt earned her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and an MBA from Case Western University.
