Kim Taylor

Earlier today, Duke University announced that Vice President and General Counsel Kim Taylor has been named as their next vice president and general counsel, effective September 1. In this role, she will lead the team that provides advice and counsel to Duke University and the Duke University Health System. Kim accepts this opportunity having served UChicago since 2014. Over the past decade, she guided our legal team with exceptional skill and dedication, always ensuring the institution’s interests are robustly represented.

During her time at UChicago, Kim has led the legal team that advises and represents all units of the University, including our US and international affiliates. Her expertise in this domain has been pivotal to many institutional efforts and priorities. She has also made important contributions beyond her legal role. Kim has provided oversight to the Department of Safety and Security, which includes the University of Chicago Police Department. Additionally, she has also played a part in representing the University in its capacity as contract operator to the Department of Energy with regard to Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory and in its relationship with the Marine Biological Laboratory. Her leadership and counsel have helped uphold the University’s values, support our community’s ambitions, and advance the University’s mission across many areas of the institution.

Kim’s contributions have been important, and her departure will be felt by all who had the privilege of working with her. I am immensely grateful to her for her years of dedicated service.

Kim will conclude her time with UChicago in August. Details about the search to identify her successor will be forthcoming. In the meantime, please join me in appreciation for her many contributions and in congratulations for this well-earned appointment.

Sincerely,

Paul
